Stepping in to the Dark
There are certain things that I enjoy in life. One thing I enjoy thoroughly is dark humor. I like looking at the darker things in life. Laughing at things that should otherwise be serious. I’ve been known to deal with mourning by joking about it. After all, laughing at things that should otherwise serious can be empowering and take the scariness out of what’s being dealt with.
At least that’s how I see it.
Dark humor seems largely underappreciated. At least as far as humor in the US goes, we like to deal with things in a more light-hearted way. While there’s a place for light-hearted things, it seems that, at least in the US, that dark humor isn’t as used… or even appreciated.
I understand that a lot of people don’t want to focus on the dark things in life. It’s not something we can just hide from. It’s something we need to accept, even if we don’t want to. We can’t continuously run away from the things we would rather not face. After all, running away won’t stop them from happening.
