The walk home with him was awkwardly quiet. Every attempted conversation was short. The walked next to each other, but seemed as if one of them was walking on the opposite side of the street. He’d never been incredibly popular, but he was also not as shy as this boy was. It frustrated him just a little.
“So, what do you think you would want to do with your life after school”, he would ask his companion.
His companion would shrug.
“I-I d-don’t know. I n-never th-thought about i-it.”, he responded.
His companion looked up at the sky almost thoughtfully. He waited another moment for a response only to be met with a shake of his head.
He frowned.
“Well,” he started, “I want to be a musician. I don’t know what I would want to play, but I really like music.”
A smile broke out on his face as he talked about music.
His companion simply nodded.
This was how that long walk went. While it was short in distance, the lack of conversation made it feel longer. The entire time he thought about touching this boys face. What it would feel like to have those gentle hands touch his bare skin. He wanted to kiss those lips. He couldn’t deny that his sexual attraction to this awkwardly shy and almost melancholy being.
He frowned again as he thought, “Maybe this might be best left as a fantasy…”
He sighed.
His companion asked quietly, “I-is th-there s-something w-wrong?”
His companions eyes pleaded for acceptance and warmth.
It was those eyes that changed his mind. He had no idea what could have made this boy the way he was. He could never even imagine it. He was pretty, so pretty that he was often the topic of many a hushed conversation by the girls in his class. It was his aloofness that they had equally found attractive. He would never have imagined that within this much envied boy that there would be such loneliness. He desperately wanted to reach out and hug him, hold him close. So desperately did he want to kiss away this boys pain.
He reached out to touch this boy. He quickly withdrew his hand.
He shook his head and said, “Not at all.”
Thankfully the walk after that went by much quicker. His mind was full of this boy. His fair skin, his beautiful face… he started to imagine what he looked like under that school uniform. He unconsciously licked his lips as he imagined peeling that uniform off that slight form next to him.
“S-so… H-how m-much farther i-is it?”, his companion asked.
“Huh…”, he started, “Oh, it’s not much longer. Just at the end of this block.”
His companion nodded.
