A Quickie for Today
I had bigger plans for today. I was gonna post more about Fanime… unfortunately, that’s been subverted a bit. Instead of posting about Fanime and going about my day all normal-like, my time is being spoken for by another. Instead I get to have the fun and pleasure of going to jury duty.
While I understand that it’s my civic duty and all, it loses its luster when you are called every time you get a jury summons. This is compounded with the fact that I don’t have a car and live just south of the county border. One of the things they didn’t plan for is that even by public transportation it would take at least 3 hours to get there. They give you an hour and a half.
Their solution? Travel an hour and a half to call in to see if you need to travel another hour and a half. While this sounds great in theory, it doesn’t work in practice as you need to break up your commute and the buses don’t offer transfers. A round trip in this manner would cost $10. If you’re called back for a second day, that would be $18.
Yeah… this is probably one of the dummest thing I’ve heard of (misspelling intentional). This also would be a financial hardship on someone who is out of work and desperately looking for a job.
I have my ideas, but not sure how feasible it is.
That means I get to spend most of my day, sitting around an writing. That in and of itself isn’t a problem. However, it means that I’m not working today. I like my job (somewhat) and would much rather be there.
At this point I’m just venting my frustration. None the less, I hope to get out more writing for you to enjoy. I might actually have the time to do it today.
Until tomorrow!
